I respectfully acknowledge the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Owners of the land on which I live and work, and I acknowledge that this land is unceded. I pay my respects to Elders past and present.

B2Ten Eighty

Matt gave me total freedom to edit down a collection of images compiled over 5+ years; turn it into a sequence with narrative structure; and develop a system for dealing with the different kinds of content. This is what I love and what I’m good at, but doing this thoughtfully through the lens of documentary photography, conservationism and decolonisation felt really new and engaging on a whole new level.

–

In Ten Eighty, Matt Dunne focuses on the history and plight of the Dingo – Australia’s wolf. Since the arrival of white people, the Dingo has been on of the most persecuted animals in Australia – the target of shooting, trapping, poisoning, myth-making and scorn. To this day, governments in Australia seek to eradicate the animal completely. Through Ten Eighty, Dunne draws connections between commerce, ecology, violence, colonisation and seeks to make the widespread war on the animal visible.
